    Community Support

Community Improvement and Development, Inc. (CID), is a 501 (c) (3), tax-exempt non-profit organization that supports communities in both the United States and abroad. We also support communities through sustainability projects and home goods distributions to families in need of support.

Household Goods Distributions
CID has partnered with local retail chains to obtain new and gently used household items to be given to individuals and families in need of household supplies. Many families who experience unforeseen events such as fires or loss of their home due to financial difficulties, as well as families simply struggling to make ends meet, benefit from our New York City wide goods distribution events. Hundreds of families and individuals such as veterans and students living on college campuses benefit from items we give. Goods such as bedding, pillows, towels and home appliances (coffee machines, cookware, trash cans etc) are just a few of the items that we give away (See photo gallery for pictures of distribution events). Your donation to CID supports the transportation to and from each distribution event. If you are or know of any families in need of such items please contact us at info@cidinc.org to schedule a goods distribution event.

Environmental Preservation
It’s no secret that our ecosystem is suffering as a result of human negligence. CID was originally founded to bring awareness to these environmental issues, specifically on the Caribbean island of Haiti. Haiti has lost over 80 percent of their forestation in the past two decades. To combat this deforestation, CID houses nurseries, which prepare seedling trees that are planted in school yards of Mirebalais, Haiti on a yearly basis. In addition, we engage in environmental preservation events in the New York area on a continuous basis. Your donation to CID supports the maintenance of the trees as well as all materials needed to complete our environmental projects here in the New York area. Lastly, your donation supports the purchase of reusable water bottles and reusable shopping bags we give away to reduce the use of plastic. If you would like to suggest a sustainability project please contact us as info@cidinc.org.
